narrative’s MV’s director’s reel

most of the time, i take on the roles of both writer and director. after completing the final draft of the script for a 10-15 min short film, i usually spend two weeks to a month on pre-production: funding, locations, casting, assembling the crew, script breakdowns, shot lists, and editing lists, among other preparations.

on set, many people believe that cutting, adding, or changing shots during production is a sign of a director’s incompetence. let’s see it differently. as long as the final result remains strong and the schedule allows for it, these on-set adjustments actually offer a director a great deal of creative freedom. and isn’t creation itself the core concern of cinema?

as for music videos, there’s no need to say much: whatever feels fun goes.
